Calgary TELUS Convention Centre Temporary Site for Calgary Drop-In Centre

In response to the public health need created by the COVID-19 pandemic, the  Calgary TELUS Convention Centre in partnership with Calgary Drop-In Centre, the City of Calgary, Community and Social Services, Alberta Health Services, and community partners are working together to create a safe space at the centre for vulnerable Calgarians.

Our location will provide service 24 hours a day, seven days a week for up to 300 Calgary Drop-In Centre clients. The opening of this satellite shelter will ensure all Calgary Drop-In Centre shelters can operate within large enough spaces to allow for appropriate physical distancing, thereby reducing the risk of  proliferating the COVID-19 virus in these buildings.

The health and safety of staff is our first priority and there are established processes and protocols overseen by AHS and the Drop-In Centre, to ensure the safety of employees and guests.

As a civic facility, it is our responsibility to the citizens of Calgary to step-up and provide support in the City’s time of need.  We are an integral part of this community, and we are proud that we are able to assist citizens of Calgary – some among our most vulnerable – in this capacity.

While we are in the midst of an unprecedented crisis, we continue to plan for the future and we remain focused growing our business once the pandemic has passed. When we do open for business, our clients will receive the safe, world-class convention facilities and personalized service they have come to expect from us.

For more information, please visit the joint press release issued by the Calgary Drop-In Centre, Community and Social Services, Alberta Health Services and Calgary TELUS Convention Centre.
