CALGARY, AB – The Calgary TELUS Convention Centre (CTCC), in partnership with Art Market Craft Sale, unveiled a legacy art piece ‘Prairie Connection’ by local artist Gerardo Carsolio to commemorate the centre’s 50th anniversary.

The unveiling marks a significant milestone for the CTCC and its longstanding partnership with Art Market, which is celebrating its 38th year at the centre.
“We are thrilled to unveil this stunning piece of art that so beautifully captures the spirit of the CTCC,” said Nichole Windblad, Owner, Director, and Show Producer at Art Market. “It’s a testament to the strength of our relationship with the CTCC, one that we’ve been proud to develop over the past 38 years.”

The piece is inspired by the prairie crocus—the same symbol that served as the inspiration for the CTCC’s new brand, which was unveiled in 2023.
“Creating this piece for the CTCC solidifies the main concept of the work: connection,” said Gerardo Carsolio, who has been exhibiting at Art Market for more than 14 years. “The five different panels in the piece represent different groups of people and ideas coming together.”
To frame the piece, Carsolio used barn wood from an Alberta farm, noting that the choice was meant to further emphasize the CTCC’s deep roots within the community.
The artwork will be on public display at the centre starting November 15th during Art Market.
